Straight From the Pants: (view the comic)

The bottom line on the whole Jack Welch/Suzy Wetlaufer fiasco simply points out something that most of us know but have probably forgotten:

Running a multi-national conglomerate and delivering profit year in and year out is tough.

It's Harvard girls that are easy.

Martha's Calendar of Shame

Those of you who read Martha Stewart Living are no doubt familiar with Martha's monthly calendar. Dispensing advice, planting tips, projects and giving us a peek into the hectic world of this media maverick Martha's calendar provides us all a vicarious thrill that other calendars can only dream of (take that Vanity Fair!).

But October's issue contains a tad bit too much information, particularly as Martha builds her case before a Congress that is already a wee bit skeptical of this fair haired media mavin.

For example:

October 8

  • Mulch daffodil bulbs to prevent frost damage
  • Send invitations to up-coming Halloween gala
  • Prepare corn stalks with colored Saran-wrap for a festive glow
  • call IMClone to see about accounting irregularities
  • polish brass fixtures

    Or

    October 17

  • Hang thyme plants from rafters to overwinter
  • Buy new melon baller
  • Update guest list to include Wall Street insiders
  • Pitch IMClone while mixing muffin batter on Cooking with Martha(check local listings)
  • Make homemade biscotti
  • Stencil mirrors in bathroom

Now, we're certainly not a couple of investigative types like that Hoffman and Redford, but even we can see that Martha sure does have her work cut out for her on this one...
