VACATION PART ONE
Well, its Summer and that means even the hardest working of us know
its time to take a vacation. But where to go? How about Europe? Well,
Europe is now mostly Democratic Socialist. We're not sure that that system
is very compatible with the New New Economy. Democratic Socialism means you
can't fire anybody without being sued no matter how lazy or awful they are for
your business. Everybody gets 8 or 9 weeks of vacation and that's
mandatory, even people like your brother-in-law. The major industires claim
to have a 25% rate of absentee for sickness at any given time.
Then, when you visit, they say endearing superior condescending things
to us like "You Americans, you live to work while WE work to live." and "Help
Help! Yugoslavia is on fire. Come use your horrible imperialistic War
Machine to put it out, Americans!" and "Ketchup Monsieur? Why would you want
to put ketchup on your souffle?" and "Sir! You cannot make jokes like that
here! This is the Anne Frank Museum!"
Enough already! Europe? We
don't want to know from Europe. (Although, here is a good site on it.)
