NHRA: AMALIE Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals - Gainesville, FL
Monday, March 10, 2025:
At the end of the rain-plagued 56th annual NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, none of the three John Force Racing drivers advanced beyond the second round. But surprisingly, the mood Sunday was upbeat as the team packed up in preparation for the next two events out west in Phoenix, Arizona, and Pomona, California.
"Fast" Jack Beckman started race day from the number one position in Funny Car. This was Jack’s first time since taking over the seat of John Force’s PEAK Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet SS last August after setting low ET in both qualifying rounds. Beckman was the only JFR driver to survive the treacherous track conditions in Sunday’s opening round, but even he was eliminated in the second round by four-time former World Champ Matt Hagan.
Defending Funny Car World Champion, Austin Prock, had a forgettable weekend after losing a first-round duel with Bob Tasca III. His weekend started Friday with a rear end gear breaking on the opening qualifying run, then a sub-par run in the evening session. With Saturday’s qualifying being rained out, the team had limited data going into race day.
Brittany Force, who was similarly optimistic after an impressive pre-Gatornationals test, echoed the sentiments of her teammates after losing to Tony Stewart in the first round when her Monster Energy Chevrolet dragster lost traction at the first hit of the throttle. She was ahead at 60 feet, but little went right after that.
The John Force Racing team heads west to Phoenix, Arizona for the Arizona Nationals March 21-23, then the NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, California, March 28-30.
