NASCAR Cup Series: Toyota/ Save Mart 350- Sonoma, CA
Monday, July 14, 2025:
A keen eye could spot our PEAK logo on Todd Gilliland's #34 Love's Travel Stops Ford Mustang at this past weekend's NASCAR Cup Series' Toyota/Save Mart 350 in Sonoma, California. This was Gilliland's fourth career Cup Series start at the Sonoma road course, with a career-best finish of 10th place. His fourth race did not improve his career-best, earning 22nd place.
Shane van Gisbergen proved on Sunday that it’s impossible to keep a road-course superstar down for more than a brief interlude. After finishing second to Connor Zilisch in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race, van Gisbergen was back on top on a pleasant Sunday afternoon in wine country, winning the Cup Series’ Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway. As has become his custom of late, the New Zealander reached a trio of milestones, winning his third straight road/street course race from the pole position to equal Jeff Gordon’s feat from 1998 and 1999.
The victory was van Gisbergen’s third of the season in his first trip around the 1.99-mile, 12-turn circuit in a NASCAR Cup Series car. SVG won for the fourth time in 34 starts, becoming the quickest to four wins since Parnelli Jones won at Riverside in 1967 in his 31st Cup start. His 97 laps led are the most by a Sonoma winner, eclipsing Jeff Gordon’s high-water mark of 92 set in 2004.
NASCAR MEXICO: Challenge Series
On July 5th, the 2025 NASCAR Challenge Series continued with the Commscope 120 Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. But the #62 PEAK car, driven by Gustavo Barrales, faced more difficulties than he and his team had anticipated. With high humidity and temperatures exceeding 30°C (86°F), Gustavo had a difficult time getting his car ready on the extremely demanding track, only to qualify 11th in his category at noon on Saturday.
Due to fuel consumption, the race was adjusted to 110 laps or a maximum of 100 minutes. Barrales showed some pace, managing to recover positions. Unfortunately, an incident between two cars ended up taking its toll, as both collided with him and left the #62 car in no condition to continue, forcing him to retire on lap 41.
Barrales had this to say, “I'd like to thank the entire team and PEAK. Thanks to them, I can be in the car doing what I love most. We're going back to the workshop, fully immerse ourselves in fine-tuning whatever needs adjusting, and come back stronger to fight on the track.”
The ninth race and Regular Season Finale for the 2025 NASCAR Challenge Series will be the Puebla 75, July 20th at the Miguel E. Abed International Raceway in Puebla.
