NHRA: NHRA New England Nationals- Epping

Monday, June 3, 2024: In front of a sell-out crowd, John Force continued to turn back time Sunday at New England Dragway in Epping, NH. Force drove past teammate and Funny Car point leader Austin Prock in an all-John Force Racing final to win the NHRA New England Nationals.

By any measure, the Epping event was a dominating performance in Funny Car by the JFR team, which were quickest in every condition. Prock was quickest in the Friday night qualifying session and posted top speed of the weekend at 336.23 mph, while Force, who tuned up for his Sunday success by winning Saturday’s Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, was second quickest of the entire weekend.

On Sunday, Force and Prock continued their dominance, leading the class’s race day performance in all four elimination rounds. Force’s 157th national event win against his 28-year-old teammate also moved Force to second in the standings, only one round behind Prock for the championship lead.

Two-time Top Fuel World Champion, Brittany Force, used a 0.061 reaction time for an early lead in her first-round showdown with eventual runner-up Tony Schumacher, but things quickly deteriorated on a hot and challenging racetrack. Although both cars lost traction, Schumacher was able to recover for the win.

The NHRA teams head to Bristol, Tennessee, for the 23rd Super Grip Thunder Valley Nationals, June 7-9.
