Brittany Force and Robert Hight raced into the semifinals Sunday at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway. John Force and the PEAK Antifreeze and Coolant Chevy Camaro had a second-round finish.

Coming into race day in the number three qualifying position after setting the track speed record on Saturday, Brittany Force would win round one over Lex Joon but have a massive explosion near the finish line.  Second round would put Force against Spencer Massey where she would run 3.671 at 332.10 mph with another smaller explosion down track but would still defeat Massey.  In the semifinals Force would run into tire smoke early, falling to eventual race winner Mike Salinas.

After a solid qualifying effort that positioned Robert Hight in the number five qualifying spot in Funny Car, Hight would race to a 3.940 at 328.46 mph to hand Cory Lee the first-round loss. Lined up with longtime rival Bob Tasca III in the second round, Hight drove to a solid 3.920 at 329.84 mph to defeat Tasca. The victory would set Hight up against number one qualifier and eventual race winner Alexis DeJoria in the semifinals where Hight’s 3.934 wasn’t enough to take down DeJoria’s 3.904.

John Force and the PEAK Chevy would lay down a 3.997-second pass at 272.12 mph despite having to shut off early to take the win over Jim Campbell’s tire smoking run in the opening round.  The second round put Force against 2018 world champion J.R. Todd where the PEAK Camaro would run into trouble, running only 4.118 to Todd’s 3.916.  Force heads into the final two races of the season tied for fourth in the championship points standings.

The next event on the tour is the Dodge SRT Nationals October 29-31st at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
